The Fog

There comes a time in life

When a fog rolls in

Youth makes you run away

Because the fog clings

But it always finds you

Like it’s tethered to you

But if you turn ’round

Walk like a pilgrimage

You always get through

And whilst it’s scary first

And it does cling on

It’s more of a caress

That wants to help heal

Turn, face, and walk through it

Fog always passes

And you will remain here

I Didn’t Sign Up For This

The sales pitch for growing up

Is a simple formula that’ll make you happy

Work hard, be smart, always smile

And everything will fall into place

Exercise, education equates to elation

But nobody mentions the things that hide round the corner

Nobody reads the fine print of chaos and disorder

What to do if your mind attacks you

What to say if you’re wasting away

You’ve signed up for it now, and life demands payment in full
